Moscow – United Way of Moscow/Latah County made a $ 3,000.00 donation to area food banks in Moscow and Latah County. US Bank generously granted $ 1,500 to United Way as part of a COVID-19 community response. United Way of Moscow/Latah County matched the US Bank grant with emergency relief funds.

The United Way advances the common good by focusing on Education, Income and Health – the building blocks to a good quality life. In this unprecedented time United Way is focusing its efforts on health to help ensure our food banks are stocked and supported. The grant from US Bank and the matching funds will be used to supply food and necessities to our rural food banks and mobile pantries. Through these donations the community will be immediately impacted and have a continued impact.

In Latah County roughly 44% of households live below the ALICE threshold. ALICE, an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, is a new way of defining and understanding the struggles of households that earn above the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to afford a bare-bones household budget.
